888 poker for Android now supports Multi Table Tournaments8/30/2013 888poker, one of the leaders in the online poker industry, released a new and updated version of its mobile Android app, adding support for multi-table tournaments to the traditional ring game and Sit & Go game modes. While the iOS version of the app has been restricted to a limited number of European countries, Android users can download the update anywhere in the world. Keep in mind however that 888 doesn’t accept new registrations from certain countries, so unfortunately not everyone will be allowed to play. Those missing out on the action have plenty of reasons to be jealous, as the release is accompanied by the launch of a special Freeroll Tournament series, which is going to feature prize pools in excess of $400,000. Each week two $50,000 tournaments will be hosted – all registered customers will receive a free ticket to one of these events, but keep in mind that playing more will require overcoming additional challenges. Furthermore, the updated version of the app comes with a brand new graphical user interface, which speeds up the process of searching for games and allows you to join the action almost as soon as you load up the app, which is an excellent addition from a poker client designed primarily with playing on the go in mind. Carbon Poker follow on from 888, PokerStars, Bwin and PKR who have all released mobile versions of their desktop clients. The difference here is that Caron Poker are part of Merge Gaming, which is a U.S. facing poker network. While the other major poker rooms have chosen to develop native poker apps that need to be approved by Apple, Carbon Poker have circumvented this process by developing a web based app that will be played via the phones browser. Carbon Poker have been busy testing their iOS and Android poker internally over the past few months. Before they release the app to the general public, they are asking some of their current players to take part in a beta testing phase. If you would like to be one of the first poker players to try out this new Texas Hold’em app, just complete the following steps.
Details of the new app are a little sketchy at the minute but we do know that the app will only offer cash games. We’d love to get some early feedback on this new Carbon Poker app, so please let us know if you are lucky enough to get an early version. Party Poker Launch Android Poker Client1/7/2013 Party Poker are the latest online poker giant to enter the world of mobile poker. Before the Christmas break, the online poker room announced the release of a beta version of their poker client for the Android operating system. The new app supports single table play-for-fun and real-money Texas Hold’em games. Omaha poker games and Sit n Go tournaments are expected to be in early 2013. Fans of high-speed poker formats such as PokerStars Zoom or Full Tilt’s Rush Poker will be glad to hear that the new Party Poker app includes a similar fastfold poker variant called “FastForward Poker”. The app is not available in Google Play, Getjar or any of the other app markets. It can only be downloaded and installed from the PartyPoker website. For now, players are also required to deposit and withdraw funds via the desktop client. INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
The Party Poker Android app comes with a quick seat lobby similar to that offered by 888. Players can also choose to play in a variety of different languages including Spanish, English, Russian, French, German, Chinese and many more. Party Poker have yet to offer a release date for an iOS version for the Apple iPhone and iPad. Golden Nugget Launch Free-Play Poker App in the United States10/17/2012 Golden Nugget, the infamous Atlantic City and Nevada based casino, have launched a free-play poker app for Android devices. The new poker network, which was launched back in June 212, already boasts over 35,500 players and is growing rapidly due to the lack of real-money poker options currently open to United States citizens. Poker players can choose to play either No Limit Hold’em or Pot Limit Omaha games on their mobile devices. The app also offers United States players the chance to take part in regular tournaments and SitNGo's. Player options include: heads up poker, short handed tables with up to 5 players or full ring games with 9 players. What is unique about this poker app is that it gives United States players the chance to compete for cash prizes. Players can take part in daily tournaments that offer $50 gift cards, which are redeemable at a range of restaurants, including Morton’s, Chart House, Oceanaire, Landry’s Seafood and the Golden Nugget. The 3 top ranked players can also choose from 2 nights accommodation, with meals included, at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City, Las Vegas or Laughlin. The Golden Nugget Android app is also the perfect place to learn the basics of online poker. It comes with a unique interactive poker school, which can teach novices how to become successful online poker players. Golden Nugget have launched this Texas Hold’em and Omaha app in anticipation of the legalization of online poker in the United States. The owners of the popular bricks-and-mortar casino believe that it is only a matter of time before United States poker players are afforded the opportunity to indulge in their favourite pastime. Until then Golden Nugget hope to build up a sizeable player base by offering U.S. citizens the chance to play for cash prizes. The Golden Nugget app is currently only available on the Android platform, although an iPhone and iPad version will be available shortly. The app can be downloaded for free from Google Play HERE 888 Add Sit n Go Tournaments to Mobile Client7/26/2012 Most online poker rooms release their mobile poker games as soon as they half work and then just fix any problems as they go along. This is not the case with online poker giant 888 Poker, who took the unusual step of releasing a beta version of their Texas Hold’em app to a select number of their existing customers in order work through any kinks in the software. After 6 months of testing, the poker software morphed from a very buggy poker app with limited functionality, to one of the very best real money poker apps available today for Android tablets and smartphones. Once of the most welcomed additions to the latest version is Sit and Go tournaments. 888 are also currently developing Multi-Table Tournament functionality, which will be added in the second half of 2012. The app currently only offers Texas Hold’em No-Limit, Fixed-Limit and Pot-Limit games, although Omaha Hi Lo will also be added in the near future. Players can choose from either 6 or 9 seater tables via the quick seat lobby that makes it easy to get in on the action with the minimum of fuss. Stakes range from 3¢/6¢ to $3/$6 at the real-money tables or mobile players can play for free at the “Play for Fun” tables. 888 is currently the third busiest poker room in the world with almost 6 millions players. One of the biggest drawbacks of the first generation of real-money poker apps has been the low level of traffic, especially at the higher stakes tables. With hundreds of thousands of players playing both day and night, you will always find plenty of action when you want it. 888 (also known as Pacific Poker) have garnered a well-deserved reputation over the years for some very loose and fishy play. Many players at 888 have drifted in from their sports betting and casino operations and know next to nothing about playing real-money poker. As a result, the Android poker client has proven to be one of the most lucrative poker apps available today and a favourite for those looking to make some easy money. Since Google Play have a policy of not listing real-money gambling apps, you will need to download the 888 Android app directly from their website here. The app is available to download for free and players with an 888 account can use their existing username and passwords to login. It is not currently available in the United States. The 888 Android mobile client is currently available in the following languages: English, Chinese, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish. It also works on most models, including the Acer Liquid, HTC Desire, HTC Evo, HTC, Thunderbolt, Nexus One, LG Optimus, Motorola Droid, Sony Ericsson and Samsun Galaxy’s, you will first need to install Adobe Air which is free to download from Google Play. 888 Join the Mobile Poker Revolution5/1/2012 888 poker (also known as Pacific Poker) have a well deserved reputation for being one of the best online poker room available today. The popular online poker room is now offering its players the chance to play cash games on their Android smartphones and tablets. The new Android app currently only offers Texas Hold’em ring games, although 888 have assured us that Sit n Go’s and tournaments will be added in future releases. The good news is the mobile poker app takes players from the main 888 player pool, so you will always find plenty of action at all levels, 24/7. One major difference between the main 888 poker client and the Android app is the lack of a conventional lobby. Instead 888 have decided to break the homescreen down into 2 distinct areas, Beginners and Quick Seat. As you can see from the image below, the Beginners section gives players a choice of either 9-max at 1¢/2¢, 6-max at 3¢/6¢ or 9-max at 5¢/10¢ No-Limit Hold’em tables. The Beginners area offers low stakes real money poker games The “Quick Seat” tabs give users the chance to choose between Pot Limit, No Limit and Fixed Limit games, with stakes ranging from 2¢/4¢ all the way up to $3/$6. 888 poker have also included a “Practice Play” section with play for fun tables and a Chat option for those who like a bit of banter during a game. The “Settings” area of the app is pretty basic, only giving users the ability to select an avatar. You can’t adjust the sound, change the colour of the decks or view your hand history. Even though the 888 poker app draws players from the main 888 player pool, there is also no way to search for other players. Use the buy-in slider to select your buy-in amount The latest version does allow users to tag players but unfortunately without notes. Existing 888 players will be disappointed to hear that it is not possible to merge notes from the main poker client with these Android tags. The betting slider on the right worked well for us on our Samsung Galaxy S2 The 888 poker apps does not require Flash, so it should work on most Android tablets and smartphones. The app was developed using Adobe Air so Android users will need to download the free Adobe Air app from Google Play. Play Freeroll Tournaments on your Android at Terminal Poker4/14/2012 When Full Tilt Poker lost its license last year, it was a black day for mobile poker. Not only had ones of the best online poker rooms closed, but we also lost the Full Tilt “Rush Poker” app for Androids. Those of us who played the high-speed “Rush Poker” format knew how much fun and excitement it offered and many of us found it difficult to go back to the slow pace of regular online poker. In the interim, both Switch Poker and Bwin released real money mobile clients that were compatible with most Android phones. Unfortunately, these apps did not support multi-tabling so the pace of games was pretty slow. In July of 2011, a brand new poker room burst onto the scene called “Terminal Poker”, which offered fast paced poker games where users join a large pool of players rather than a table. A group of players are then picked at random and dealt a hand. Whenever a player folds or exits a game, they are immediately returned to the pool and dealt another hand with a different group of players. This cuts out a lot of the waiting around, which means you play a lot more hands per hour. Terminal Poker offered a mobile poker client that worked on most phones and tablets. Unfortunately, the lobby was poorly laid out and the poker app lacked a lot of the features we had grown to expect. Thankfully Terminal Poker have worked hard over the past year to improve the look and feel of their mobile poker offering. This month they have introduced their biggest update yet and we must say we are impressed. Here are some of the newest features on offer…. BRAND NEW LOBBY First off Terminal Poker have greatly improved the lobby . It is now possible to get a much better overview of what is happening at the poker room from your smartphone or tablet. The “Cash Games” section is broken down into 5 different areas – “All”, “Texas Holdem”, “Omaha”, “Low” and “High”. Low stakes games range from €0.02/€0.05 to €0.10/€0.20, while the high-stakes tables range from €0.25/€0.50 to €0.50/€1 FREEROLL TOURNAMENTS In my opinion the biggest improvement to the Terminal Poker client is the introduction of freeroll tournaments. When you loginto Terminal Poker you can now select the “Freerolls” tab and view all upcoming freeroll tournaments. Terminal Poker run dozens of freeroll tourneys every day. Prize pools range from a few euros to a hundred euros. On Sundays Terminal Poker hold a special tourney where €500 is up for grabs. PLAY AT MORE THAN ONE POOL AT A TIME This last improvement is for the very hardcore mobile poker player. Even though poker games are extremely fast paced anyway, Terminal Poker are now offering players the ability to join more than one pool at the time, which makes for some blisteringly fast Texas Hold’em and Omaha poker games. You can switch between tables/pools by just swiping your finger across your Droids touchscreen. Top 3 Android Mobile Poker Apps for Beginners3/7/2012 So you’re new to playing poker and you want to find the best real money Android games for beginners? We’ve put together this short guide for new mobile players that outlines the main pros and cons of the best beginner apps. Bwin Mobile The first thing that we really like is the “Automatic Hand Selection” feature that automatically highlights your strongest hand. Playing cash games can be a little daunting for the first time so we think this is a really neat feature. It takes the pressure off choosing the best hand and speeds up play. The “Hand History” also means you can review your play at the end of every session and spot some mistakes which will hopefully help you improve your game. Bwin is also part of the world’s largest mobile poker network so you should have no problem finding other players at your skill level at any time of the day or night. The Bwin Android App gives users the chance to play at either real money or practice tables. These play for fun tables can be particularly useful at the beginning when you are still getting used to the controls. The one slight disadvantage the Bwin app has is that the stakes start at $0.05/$0.10, which is a little higher than the €0.02/€0.04 limits on offered by other mobile poker rooms. Bwin offer the most generous sign-up bonus for new players. If you deposit $500, Bwin will match that with another $500, which gives new players a starting bankroll of $1,000. At the micro-limits 1k should go a very long way. Bwin Review mFortune Mobile The mFortune app has one major advantage over every other cash game poker app, they offer a free £5 welcome bonus to new players. You don’t need to hand over your credit card details or make a deposit to claim this free credit. All you need to do is sign-up. This means that new players having a starting bankroll of £5 that they can practice with. Pretty sweet!! Another really cool feature is the ability to play against friends at private tables. When you are new to online or mobile poker, playing against strangers can often add to the pressure. With the mFortune you can create a private table and invite some of your friends to play a few relaxed hands of Texas Hold’em. The mFortune app is also compatible with 99% of phones, so you can also play against any of your friends that use iPhone's, Blaberry's or Nokia's. Like the Bwin Android app, mFortune also offer “Play for Fun” tables, which might be useful if you want to get in a few practice sessions before you risk your own coin. Our only gripe with the mFortune app is that the lowest stakes are £0.10/0.20. This might be a little steep for new mobile poker players. Read mFortune Review Terminal Poker We think the Terminal Poker app would also be great for beginners because they offer the lowest stakes of just $0.02/$0.05. Terminal Poker run daily freerolls, which are a great way to improve your play without risking any of your own money. Terminal Poker also offers very generous initial 200% deposit bonus up to €400. Unfortunately, Terminal Poker only offer real money tables which is a bit of a bummer if you are new to mobile poker and just want to play for fun occasionally. We really hope you have found this mobile poker guide for beginners helpful. If you have any suggestions, please get in touch and let you know.
