The uncontrollable spread of COVID-19 has made it very difficult for the US casino industry to function in most states. Across the country, casinos are limiting the number of customers on their floors or are closing their doors to casual and experts bettors in an effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Sycuan Casino Resort in El Cajon says in addition to the above measures, they've also put anti-bacterial soap in all restrooms and are also using a casino chip company to clean and sanitize all.
Casinos were particularly hard hit in the spring, when most were forced to shutter. On March 19, the American Gaming Associationissued a release on the crisis. AGA President and CEO Bill Miller said:
With a spike of coronavirus cases in the fall of 2020, casinos are once again being forced to shut down in many states. Most casinos remain open in some respect, but that will likely change.

Alabama casinos

Arizona casinos
Most Arizona casinos are open subject to general COVID restrictions in the state. Twin Arrows Navajo Casino Resort is currently closed, and Casino del Sol closed for the rest of 2020 starting on Dec. 7.
Arkansas casinos
Arkansas casinos are open, with some restrictions.

California is currently under a stay-at-home order and capacity restrictions in most regions. However, most California tribal casinos are currently open with a variety of restrictions that don’t always line up with state guidelines. More on that here.

Colorado casinos
Casinos in Colorado mostly remain open, but some such as Ute Mountain Casino Hotel have opted to close temporarily. Table games are shut down in some other casinos. More on that at PlayColorado.
Connecticut casinos
The state’s two casinos, Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Resort, are both open with restrictions. As of the week of Dec. 1, Foxwoods announced even further restrictions and temporary closing of some hotel areas.

Nevada casinos

There is no word yet on when casinos in New Hampshire will reopen.
New Jersey casinos
Atlantic City casinos continue to stay open, with restrictions. Of course, online casinos in New Jersey, are still running.

Absolute Casino San Diego
All New York casinos, both commercial and tribal, remain open for now.
North Carolina casinos
The only two casinos in North Carolina, Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort and Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino are currently open.
North Dakota casinos
Tribal casinos are generally open in North Dakota, although it is on a case by case basis.
Ohio casinos
Ohio casinos remain open, but are subject to a curfew.
Oklahoma casinos
Almost all Oklahoma casinos are currently open.
Oregon casinos
Most tribal casinos in Oregon remain open, with restrictions. Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City is one that has closed temporarily.
Pennsylvania casinos

Rhode Island casinos
The two Rhode Island casinos, Twin River Casino in Lincoln and Tiverton, closed for two weeks starting Nov. 30.
South Dakota casinos
Many South Dakota casinos have closed because of worsening COVID cases in the state, but a few remain open.
Texas casinos
Texas casinos are currently open.
Washington casinos
The state’s tribal casinos all remain open with restrictions.
West Virginia casinos
All five of West Virginia’s casinos remain open, with restrictions.

Wyoming casinos are currently closed.
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Barona Resort & Casino is scheduled to reopen Wednesday after being shut down for two months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Officials said the casino and resort will open its doors to the public at 10 a.m. on May 27.
The reopening will be in phases and includes numerous health and safety measures, as well as “enhanced cleaning protocols,” according to casino officials.
Barona Resort & Casino General Manager Rick Salinas said, “Over the years, Barona has received many accolades throughout the gaming industry and most importantly from our players as being the cleanest and safest casino. We have spent the past two months developing a thoughtful plan which enhances our already robust standards and addresses the COVID-19 pandemic in accordance with all of the applicable guidelines.”
The first phase of the casino’s reopening includes:
- Temperature checks for guests and staff – inside their vehicles – as they arrive; those with temperatures above 100 or with other symptoms will be asked to leave
- Hand sanitizing required for guests and staff before they enter the facility
- Required face coverings for guests and staff
- No smoking on the property; “Barona’s triple-stage air filtration system will continuously disinfect the air and kill 99% of germs and viruses using germicidal UVC light technology”
- Anyone under 18 will not be allowed on the property
- Every other slot machine will be turned off and chairs will be removed; machines and chairs will be disinfected after each use
- Tables will be limited to three players per game; dice, table rails, and chairs will be disinfected after each use, and players will never have to touch chips due to touchless wagering
- Increased sanitizing and enhanced disinfecting measures will be in place “around the clock”
- Casino officials say: “All staff members will be required to attend PPE/COVID-19 training”
Indian Casino San Diego
- Social distancing rules and signs will be present throughout the casino and resort property
- Plexiglass dividers put into place in various areas, including cashier cages, food court, and hotel check-in
- All staff will be required to wash their hands before and after breaks and continuously wash or sanitize their hands during their shift
Officials said restaurants -- starting with the Sage Café and food court -- will reopen during the first phase, but the buffet will be closed. Restaurants also remaining closed include Barona Oaks Steakhouse, Italian Cucina, and Plaza Grill.
The hotel will reopen in phases at 35 percent capacity, but officials said the pool, spa, and fitness center will stay closed.
According to officials, “The Barona Creek Golf Club, Pro Shop and snack bar will remain closed with a planned reopening in mid-June.”
The casino’s bussing program is shut down until further notice, officials added.
